This study explores the lived experiences of working professionals residing in slum areas within Taguig City and Pasig City, Philippines. The study employs a qualitative phenomenological research design, utilizing semi-structured interviews,observations, and audio materials to gather in-depth insights from 7 participants. Thematic analysis is employed to identify common themes and patterns within participants' descriptions of their experiences, the ways they make sense of theseexperiences, reasons behind their choice to stay in slum areas, and the impact of their environment on their quality of life. Findings reveal that participants describe their life experiences through financial expectations, community cohesion, and safety concerns. Despite challenges, they exhibit adaptive resilience, emotional attachment, aspirational determination, and a positive outlook. The decision to stay in slum areas is influencedby strong community bonds, emotional connections, and practical considerations. Participants face various challenges affecting their quality of life, including safety issues, health concerns, and poor sleep quality due to noise pollution. Their copingmechanisms and responses highlight the complex nature of life in slum areas. Recommendations include advocating for improved living conditions, addressing inadequate professional salaries, and encouraging participants to broaden their outlook beyond emotional attachments. The study provides afoundation for future programs aimed at securing improved housing for individuals residing in slum areas, fostering economic growth, and positively impacting the well-being of working professionals in these environments.
