In Germany, there is a rather large variety of school types reaching from primary schools to gymnasiums but also include schools for disabled children, professional schools, and many more. This talk concentrates on the former two and the alternative forms 'Waldorf' and 'Montessori'. Moreover, the results of PISA 2006 and 2018, and of a recent interrogation among headmasters are sketched.
