Why Rest State And Rectilinear Motion Are Impossible

Authors: Cavași Ioan Abel

From high school, students learn to avoid fractions that have a zero denominator, because a number divided by zero gives an unclear result. In this context, in which the reader recalled how problematic divisions with zero can be, we can speak in a meaningful way to clarify a situation related to the curvature of the trajectory of bodies in the Universe. Let us now take our reasoning further. To do this, imagine a body moving for a period of time, with zero velocity, on a trajectory whose curvature is thus well determined. Then, for some reason, probably a collision or due to friction, the body comes to rest. In this case, its speed has become zero, and the curvature of its trajectory can no longer be determined.
