Human information systems are sufficiently powerful for us to comprehend what is happening within our climate. Still, we all do nothing beyond weak gestures, while the downhill slope to global disaster becomes steeper. Why? Several decades ago most intelligent people didn’t fully understand the unforeseen danger. More recently, many people are reluctant to admit to what they now know. It is easy to blame willful ignorance. People do little or nothing, because serious remediation locally seems too expensive and ineffective for meaningful global amelioration. We thus embrace climate delusions, not critical climate wisdom.
