A Review of the Forgiveness Levels of School Students in Terms of Various Variables

The aim of this study is to examine the forgiveness levels of secondary school students in terms of various variables. The study group consists of 256 female (48.8%) and 269 (51.2%) male students. The research is conducted with a descriptive survey model. Forgiveness Scale for Adolescents is used as data collection tool. t-test and one-way analysis of variance are used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, it is found that there are significant differences in components of forgiveness, revenge, maintaining anger and empathy sub-dimensions of forgiveness scale. Female students received higher scores than male students in the components of forgiveness and empathy sub-dimensions. Male students received higher scores than female students in revenge and maintaining anger. Significant differences were found in the sub-dimension of maintaining anger. The ones, whose maternal education status is secondary school and above, received higher scores than the ones whose mothers? are illiterate. According to parental attitudes, there is a significant difference in the components of forgiveness sub-dimension. According to grade levels, there is a significant difference between the skills of empathy as the grade increases. The results were discussed according to the literature.
