Das hier vorliegende Manuskript gibt einen geschichtlichen Rückblick über die Ausarbeitung der Speziellen Relativitätstheorie. Gegenübergestellt wird dabei der eigentliche Sinn des Michelson- Experimentes und die spätere Verwendung durch Albert Einstein. Es wird eine andere Sichtweise vorgestellt, welche den Weg für ein neues Tätigkeitsfeld im Bereich der experimentellen Astrophysik eröffnet.
