The present invention discloses an arbitrary dimensional graphical user interface permitting the display or presentation of one or more instances of the user interface on one or more arbitrarily-sized and arbitrarily-shaped surfaces with each instance comprising one or more arbitrary dimensional background elements each of which is divided into one or more arbitrarily-sized and arbitrarily-shaped arbitrary dimensional partitions, wherein each partition may contain one or more user interface elements and is associated with one or more sets of rules that define rendering, positioning, element placement and other relevant attributes and behaviors, wherein said rules can be specified in such a way as to enable said arbitrary dimensional background to assume any desired arbitrary shape and to facilitate expansion to any desired arbitrary size without distortion or loss in quality. In this context, an instance of a graphical user interface is any display or presentation of any representation of any aspect of the user interface. Furthermore, the present invention discloses automatic, semi-automatic or manual processing systems for arbitrary dimensional graphical user interfaces based on the principles of the present invention.
