Abstract: Socrates is presented in Plato's Charmides as a «warlock», who has the power to cure the headache of Charmides with some «magic words». Properly considered the dialogue of Plato, it is evident that only the word and the reflection (élenchos), the philosophy ultimately, is endowed with healing power. The «Socratic mastery» continues to operate in the Platonic dialogues and they convey a therapeutic power, whichhelp us to examine our own lives. The purpose of the Platonic dialogues is to guide the soul of the reader (psicagogía) in the way of philosophy. And here lies precisely its current value. Keywords: Socrates, Plato, psicagogia, care of the soul, elenchus, Charmides.
