El Judío Süss Y el Cine Antisemita Del Tercer Reich: Una Aproximación a Los Límites Del Poder Totalitario

Authors: Edgar Straehle

Abstract: This article studies in depth the movie Jew Süss (Jud Süss) in connection with its context in order to explore anti-semitism in the nazi cinematography. One can see, paradoxically, that this movie was an uncommon product, because Goebbels didn’t dare to insist in a kind of movies, which normally didn’t attract the german public, excepting the film that we are examining. That shows one of the limits of nazi totalitarianism, because the nazi government didn’t reach to convince the people to want to see this kind of movies. Keywords: Goebbels, totalitarianism, anti-semitism, Süss, Arendt.
